3/1 - 3/31 Machine Dreams
Dear Diary,
March was the shit. I worked hard, ate / drank well, slept like a baby and ran a ton. Thanks for a pleasant 20 miler (a first), and for allowing me to log my highest mileage ever (175 mi). As much as I hate to see you go, I look forward to April and all it has in store.
Best,
I Run Chi

Put Those Shoes On: Running Won't Kill Your Knees... →
Long-term studies show that running doesn’t appear to damage knees. But researchers caution that if you’ve had knee surgery or if you’re more than 20 pounds overweight, you shouldn’t jump right into an intensive running routine.

3/14 - 3/20 La Cubana (Mom)
Scene: Mom’s house, chillin’ on the couch flippin’ channels between House Hunter’s International and a documentary about some Norwegian woman who base jumps.
Mom storms in, heads straight for the computer and plugs in her nike+ usb to see yesterday’s stats:
Then she made dinner.
Win-Win.
Last week she ran Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, ending up with just...

intelligentfrivolity-deactivate asked: Question: What are the recommended settings for beginning runners on a treadmill? I want to be able to do a half-marathon by August and need guidance in terms of speed settings, incline, etc. Thank you Running God, you are the best!

HI. LONG TIME FAN, FIRST TIME QUESTIONNER.
I HAVE TO RUN AN 8 KM RACE ON APRIL 10TH. I AM SHOOTING FOR A SUB 45 MINUTE TIME.
TODAY IS MARCH 17TH AND I CAN BARELY RUN 3 KM IN 20 MINUTES.
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING REGIMENT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?

3/7 - 3/13 Places and Spaces
Wrapped up last week just shy of 43 miles. Switched it up and got my long run (18 mi) in on Friday afternoon as opposed to my usual Saturday morning outing. It was tough, but I kept at it and finished in 2:40 or 8:55 min/mi. Normally, I feel good the day after, but I’ve been sore ever since. Paid a visit to Athletico last night and got a much needed massage. Judging by how I feel now,...

I fantasized 'bout this back in...
Weather was in the low thirties this morning, with winds originating from the north at around 20mph. Decided to take it easy on myself and get the majority of my miles in heading east and west. Luckily at times when I was heading north, the gusts weren’t unbearable. At least until mile 9 or so, over in River East attempting to run headwind.
Heading back was pretty uneventful, in a...
